To make a new roster go to 'Build a New Roster' from under the 'Rostering' menu.
If you have permissions to create rosters in more than one department you will be able to select the department you wish to create the new roster for.
It will ask you for the start and end dates, so select those. You will then have a blank sheet to input turns.
You will now be taken to a table to input turns.

To add a turns click on the '[+ Add]' links, or, if you go to the Operations tab there will be a button to 'Input Turns from the Operations Calendar'. This will print the templates for the department that you specified onto the roster. You can edit what it puts in as much as you like, if you have extra trains running, etc.

(Although the users will be able to input their availability, they won't be able to see the roster while you 'play' with it, move people around, etc. When you are ready for the staff to see the finished roster, after the turns have been allocated, press the 'Publish' button in the Roster Operations tab and then it will be visible to everyone).

HOPS is continually being developed and updated. Sometimes the screen shots in these help files might lag behind the most up-to-date views of the screens. Generally, however, the functionality of the page will be the same, albeit with a slightly different format or layout.
