MNR Background

The Mid-Norfolk Railway is a East Anglia's Longest Heritage Railway, operating 11 miles between the Market towns of Dereham & Wymondham. We operate mainly Heritage Diesel Railcar services.
Steam services operate June - August.

Role Description

The Guard is often the main feature of any of our visitors. The Guard ensures the trains operate safely and punctually.

You will be required to undertake (and pass) a medical.
You will be required to undertake (and pass) a Personal Track Safety course.

This role involves practical and theoretical rules assessments. Full training will be provided.

Role Responsibilities

Our Guards are responsible for:
- the safe operation and working of the train
- Ticket Checking and Selling
- Helping with Customer Enquires
- Cleaning of the Train
- the safe working of the level crossings which are unmannned
- Reporting any faults
- Dealing with Emergency Situations which may arise

The amount of days you do is your choice. You will be rostered for a turn, and expected to complete the turn. A normal day starts 0900 and finshes 1730, except Special events, where early starts and late finishes do exist.
