MNR BackgroundThe Mid-Norfolk Railway is a East Anglia's Longest Heritage Railway, operating 11 miles between the Market towns of Dereham & Wymondham. We operate mainly Heritage Diesel Railcar services.
Steam services operate June - August.
Role DescriptionThe Guard is often the main feature of any of our visitors. The Guard ensures the trains operate safely and punctually.
You will be required to undertake (and pass) a medical.
You will be required to undertake (and pass) a Personal Track Safety course.
This role involves practical and theoretical rules assessments. Full training will be provided.
Role ResponsibilitiesOur Guards are responsible for:
- the safe operation and working of the train
- Ticket Checking and Selling
- Helping with Customer Enquires
- Cleaning of the Train
- the safe working of the level crossings which are unmannned
- Reporting any faults
- Dealing with Emergency Situations which may arise
Number of Positions AvailableUnlimited
CommitmentThe amount of days you do is your choice. You will be rostered for a turn, and expected to complete the turn. A normal day starts 0900 and finshes 1730, except Special events, where early starts and late finishes do exist.
Volunteer / EmployedThis is a volunteer position.
ManagerialThis is not a managerial position.
SafetyThis is a safety critical position or a position that carries safety responsibilities.
