Update 1502 16 August 2026	HOPS Subscription Fees HOPS subscription fees are normally adjusted in August each year, but you may have noticed that this has not taken place this year. We held off revising the subscription fees in August 2026 while discussions about succession planning were ongoing. As things are starting to look a bit clearer in that respect now we will be in a position to share details of a new HOPS pricing structure soon. There is quite a significant disparity between subscription fees paid by roughly-equivalent railways at present. This is due to factors such as various discounts being applied, the time in history at which a railway joined HOPS, and what other things have been negotiated over the years. To remedy this we will be introducing a new price-band structure based on turnover - similar to way HRA subscription fees are arranged. Most railways will find a change in their fees, some increase and some decrease, but the new price-band structure will be more transparent for everyone. We hope that, if your fee increases, you will recognise that this reflects the fact that you have benefited from HOPS at a lower cost than other equivalent railways in previous years so will hopefully not feel too aggrieved. That being said we will be happy to have discussions with individual railways if you feel unfairly treated or unhappy with the new arrangements. Discounts for making payment by Direct Debit will continue. Greater discounts will be available for subscribers of the ticket sales system (above a threshold), recognising the more significant financial contribution this makes to the sustainability of HOPS. We will share details of the new pricing structure shortly and implement it from 1 October 2026. Thank you Danny Scroggins
