Turn Periods & Roster Settings These have caused some headaches over the last few weeks. The arrangements are: - All turns now have a period. - "" (blank) is an acceptable period, and equivalent to what 'no period' was previously. - It is possible to add/edit/archive periods in Roster Settings. - It is not possible to have two periods with the same name in the same department. This caused us quite a bit of head-scratching, until we realised that users were trying to create periods with the same names as archived periods! - If a user tries to create a new turn period with the same name as a previously-archived one in the same department, the old one will be un-archived. - If a user tries to create a new turn period with the same name as an existing (non-archived) one, a new one won't be created and the turn will have the period that already exists. Sorry for the unexpected issues surrounding this "little job"! At the same time, the Roster Settings pages were also updated to include options to add, edit, and archive Roster Rows and Roster Columns. I imagine we will remove the ability to add new Rows, Columns and Periods on the turn editing pages (unless feedback tells us otherwise...!) to try to avoid the well-meaning but inconsistent addition of loads of duplicate and near-duplicate entries (eg "Day", "Days", "Daytime", "Daays").
