MNR Background

The Mid-Norfolk Railway is a East Anglia's Longest Heritage Railway, operating 11 miles between the Market towns of Dereham & Wymondham. We operate mainly Heritage Diesel Railcar services.
Steam services operate June - August.

Role Description

Our Crossing Keepers run our six level crossings on the line, but in the main, the four at Yaxham, Garvestone, Thuxton & Kimberley Park.

You will be required to undertake (and pass) a medical.
You will be required to undertake (and pass) a Personal Track Safety course.

This role involves practical and theoretical rules assessments. Full training will be provided.

Role Responsibilities

Our Crossing Keepers are responsible for:
- the safe working of the level crossing at which they are on duty
- operating the level crossing and respective signalling equipment
- keeping the ajoining station at which they are on duty clean and tidy

You will not have any budget responsibilities

Term Length

This is a great way to start in the operations side of the Mid-Norfolk Railway. Previous Keepers have gone on to find roles as Guards & Signallers, as well as trainee drivers.

Commitment

The amount of days you do is your choice, we do ask that if you volunteer, you are there for the day. A normal day starts 1030 and finshes 1700, except Special events, where early starts and late finishes do exist.
