Availability Collection Overview

HOPS facilitates two methods of availability collection for rostering purposes.

Printable availability collection sheets, for staff without internet access or for railways who keep their staff names as 'system only'.

Online availability collection, saving automatically into HOPS for use in constructing the roster.

The online Input Availability sheet has options to allow users to input messages to the roster clerk on individual days...

... and/or for the whole roster period.

The facility also exists for users to advise how many turns they would actually like in the roster. This increases roster flexibility for railways with users who might be available every weekend, but actually only want 3 turns in the roster. In older schemes the user might have been led to only put three 'ticks', to ensure they only got three turns, unnecessarily restricting their flexibility. In HOPS users such as these can confidently fill up the sheet with ticks, but insert at the bottom that they only require three turns.

The availability sheets always refers to the turns that have been constructed in the roster, so is automatically available and always sympathises with the roster.

Availability on a particular day can be separated into any divisions required, so either one set of yes/no boxes for the day, or multiple, labelled, boxes, ie, 'early', 'late', 'night'. Any number of custom periods within the day can be created.

HOPS is continually being developed and updated. Sometimes the screen shots in these help files might lag behind the most up-to-date views of the screens. Generally, however, the functionality of the page will be the same, albeit with a slightly different format or layout.
