User's e-mail addresses require to be validated to prove that that user owns that e-mail address.
The validation is achieved by us sending an e-mail to the address and the user clicking the link to prove they have received it.
Apart from the exceptions below, we will not send any e-mails to an e-mail address until it has been validated. This is to avoid us sending e-mails to invalid addresses. HOPS sends hundreds of e-mails a day, and if we send too many invalid ones there is a danger we will become blacklisted by e-mail providers and corporate e-mail systems.

The only exceptions, that we will send to unvalidated e-mail addresses are:
- Shop orders from customers who are not HOPS account users
- E-mails advising of new user accounts
- E-mails requesting e-mail validation.

If you have any problems or are unable to validate your e-mail address for whatever reason, please contact us, or contact your railway's HOPS Administrator.


HOPS is continually being developed and updated. Sometimes the screen shots in these help files might lag behind the most up-to-date views of the screens. Generally, however, the functionality of the page will be the same, albeit with a slightly different format or layout.
